Special Events

Since everyone's body is different, it is best to work on and develop one's own individual practice, including the poses and adaptations that would be most beneficial for each person. With that in mind, I recommend and offer individual sessions, either in my home studio in South Salem, the Trinity studio in Pound Ridge, or at a place of your choosing.

I also offer group classes. Prices for both individual and group sessions vary depending on location. Check the schedule below for details.

The duration of individual sessions varies depending on the student but is usually one hour. Classes are one hour or one hour and 15 minutes long. A typical class starts with a few minutes of sitting, slowing down the breath and focusing on our bodies.  We then explore yoga asana (poses and movement) until the last 10-20 minutes, using repetitive movements and slow deep breathing, learning to control the breath and deepen the ability to relax while stretching and strengthening our bodies. At the end of the class, guided deep relaxation (savasana) and controlled breathing (pranayama) will bring us into a space of quiet stillness.

Class Descriptions

Level I classes are for anyone new to yoga in general or Viniyoga in particular.

Level II classes are for people who are comfortable with Viniyoga style. This is NOT an advanced asana class.

Gentle/Chair Yoga is for people with physical limitations, or anyone looking for an especially gentle class. Like the other classes, this one uses repetition and controlled breathing, but we do most of the poses in chairs and may also use other props for support where needed. This class is usually 50-60 minutes long.

Yoga for Stress Reduction is a special series of one-hour classes designed to relieve stress. We use breathing techniques, slow movement, visualization, and sometimes sound to help restore balance, focus and calm to your life. There will be handouts to help you practice applying these techniques at home, in bed, and even in the office.

Open classes are for all levels and abilities. Modifications and alternatives will be offered for different levels where appropriate.

Yoga for Kids is a playful, faster-paced but still breath-focused 45 minute class for kids 7 and up.
